The central axis of a Renaissance cabinet of curiosities is the collector himself, who brings together heterogeneous objects in an encyclopaedic manner and according to his own criteria, organised according to his tastes, interests and passions. Olga Cafiero's choice of subjects is driven by fascination and curiosity. She explores the tensions underlying the images by combining contrasting elements, such as a contemporary machine and a portrait inspired by Renaissance painting. These repeated comparisons make it possible once again to bring together science and the world of magic, two fields that share a common history in our cultural past.
